Recital Costumes and Dress Code:
Appropriate dress is important for the technical growth of your dancing student. Inappropriate clothing will hinder their dance development and make it difficult for the instructor to 'see' your student dance.
Coming to class dressed in your appropriate class dress is also an important part of preparing yourself for your class. When you take the time to respect the dress code, you are setting yourself up for success in class and you are showing your class, your teacher, and the discipline of dance respect.
Dress code, including hair, will be enforced this year, especially in intermediate and advanced classes. Students not dressed to dance will either have to borrow our 'spares' or observe. We thank you all parents and students alike for supporting each other in coming to class prepared.
PRESCHOOL: Especially at this young age, the ritual of putting on dancing clothes to go to dance class is important. While a leotard, tights, ballet slippers are not required for class, most students will enjoy wearing these clothes. Please pull your students hair back and remove any dangly necklaces or jewelry. Ballet slippers without ties, if you can find them, are great.
BALLET DRESS: Hair in a tight neat bun. Solid colored leotard (preference black), ballet pink tights, black hot shorts or ballet skirt may be worn over leotard, NO BAGGY T SHIRTS OR CAMISOLES OVER YOUR LEOTARD, PINK ballet slippers (GIRLS), BLACK ballet slippers (BOYS) and/or pointe shoes. JAZZ/TAP DRESS: Hair in a ponytail or bun. Solid colored leotard preferred, nude dance tights, hot shorts or leggings, black jazz shoes OR black LACE UP tap shoes (NO HEEL PLEASE, NO MARY JANES), NO BAGGY T SHIRTS, NO JEGGINGS OR STRETCHY JEANS, tight camisole tops are allowed.
MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY: Hair pulled back, Solid colored leotard preferred, nude dance tights, hot shorts or leggings, bare feet or foot undeez
HIP HOP: Hair pulled back, Black Hip Hop Sneakers, NO JEAN, KHAKIS, OR SCHOOL CLOTHES, T shirt, shorts or leggings
BOYS HIP HOP: Boys should wear clothing that they can move around easily in. Please avoid belts or other things that can scratch the students when they dance. This class can wear regular street sneakers as long as they are very clean. We suggest using an old pair of street shoe so that they can dedicate it to the dance studio.
We understand that costumes are a really important part of dance class. They ARE really exciting! We measure our students in the Fall for their Spring Recital costume and do our best to size up so that their costume will fit them well. Costumes must be ordered the first week of December to ensure that we have enough time to try them on to see if they all work out well.
Costume Payments: Costume Payments must be made in full by DEC 1st. If they are not made by December 1st your costume will not be ordered. We will order them later, but they will be at least $10 more expensive.
Dance Tights: The appropriate color of dance tights will be included in the cost of your student's Recital Costume.
