Creative Edge Dance Studio Dress Code
Wearing the appropriate clothing and shoes is an important part of a student’s dance education. If a student is not appropriately dressed for class, they may be asked to borrow “spares” from CEDS or asked to observe class rather than participate.
Please do not wear dangly earrings or long necklaces. Hair for all ballet classes must be neatly secured in a bun or twist. We strongly encourage dancers to use hairnets on their ballet buns (this is required for performances).
We do not strictly enforce a dress code for preschool age classes, but we encourage the following:
Solid-colored leotard; Pink tights (convertible); Pink ballet shoes; Hair in ponytail or bun
Solid-colored T-shirt; Black shorts, tights, or athletic pants; Black ballet shoes
Pre-Ballet, Ballet I-V, Pre-Pointe, Pointe
Solid-colored leotard; Pink tights (convertible); Pink ballet shoes (and/or pointe shoes); Hair in bun or twist; Optional for Ballet III-V: black hot shorts or skirt over leotard
Solid-colored, close-fitting t-shirt; Black tights; Black ballet shoes
Same as above, but students can wear black tights or tight-fitting black leggings if preferred.
Jazz and Tap
Solid-colored leotard; Flesh-tone or black dance tights (convertible); Black jazz shoes or black lace-up tap shoes; Hair in ponytail, bun, or twist; Optional: Black hot shorts
Solid-colored, close-fitting t-shirt; Black tights, black dance pants, black shorts or black athletic pants; Black jazz shoes or black lace-up tap shoes
Modern and Contemporary

Solid-colored, close-fitting t-shirt; Black tights, black shorts, black dance pants, or black athletic pants; Bare feet
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Please avoid belts or other things that can scratch the students or the floor. Regular street sneakers are allowed as long as they are very clean. We suggest using an old pair of sneakers that can be dedicated to using for dance classes. Long hair should be pulled back from face.
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in and the appropriate shoe for the style of dance (based on descriptions above). We suggest that long hair be pulled back and secured.
