MAKEUP
Because we will not be on a proscenium stage with bright stage lights, makeup can be light for this performance. For most of our younger dancers, some pink-based lipstick or lipgloss, blush, and mascara is sufficient. For older dancers (above 11 or 12), you can add a neutral eyeshadow, some eyeliner, and eyebrow pencil (false lashes are optional).
HAIR
For female dancers with long hair, please wear a neat, medium high bun. Any hair accessories that came with your costume should be pinned on the left side of your bun.
The bun should be covered with a hair net (I have these at the studio -- just ask for one if you need it), and there should be no bangs or wispies. Bun "donuts" are not necessary. If your hair is too short for a bun, please have it neatly pulled back from your face. For boys, hair should be neat and they should be able to dance and move without hair falling in their face. Here is a bun tutorial, and here is another one.
TIGHTS
Girls in the following classes should wear pink tights with their costumes:
Creative Movement, Pre-ballet, Ballet I, Ballet II, Ballet III, Ballet IVa, Ballet IVb, Ballet V
Girls in the following classes should wear tan (flesh-tone) tights with their costumes:
Pre-Jazz, Pre-tap, Jazz I, Tap I, Jazz II, Tap II/III, Jazz III, Jazz IVa, Jazz IVb, Tap IV, Jazz V, Tap V, Modern I, Modern II/III, Modern IVa, Modern IVb, Tween Modern, Teen Modern, Contemporary, Tween Ballet, Teen Tap
If you are in multiple dances in the same show, we recommend wearing a nude leotard under your costume and tights so that you can change your costume easily in between dances. We have pink and tan tights available for sale at the studio ($8/pair) and will have nude leotards next week ($20 each).
JEWELRY, NAIL POLISH, ETC.
Dancers (both boys and girls) should not wear any jewelry (including earrings) on stage. If you have new piercings that you need to keep earrings in, please wear the smallest earrings possible and cut a little section of bandaid to stick on the earring and cover it. All nail polish should be removed.
